julep st patrick's day box + {discount code!}

Around each holiday, Julep offers a surprise box for $19.99, but the box's contents contain more than an average Julep Maven box and are usually valued between $60-200! I decided to go ahead and purchase the St. Patrick's Day box to see if I would get lucky, and I did!

I was lucky to receive all of these awesome goodies for only $19.99! 2 deluxe samples, 4 full-size polishes, and a full-size crystal nail file!

I received deluxe size samples of Julep's Age Defying Hand Brightener and the Glycolic Hand Scrub! I loved both of these products, so I'm super excited to have travel size versions now!

I also received four full size polishes (which retail for $14 each!) in Carrie (my absolute favorite bubblegum pink), Sofia (a gorgeous green apple with turquoise glitter!), Julep's Basecoat, and Jennifer (beautiful peachy pale pink!).

Overall, I think that Julep's surprise boxes are an amazing deal, and they make awesome presents for friends...or yourself :) If you'd like to try Julep Maven (see my reviews here and here), you can use the code SHAREONMARCH to get your first box for only ONE CENT!

march 2012 birchbox {best ever!}

I've been a Birchbox subscriber for a little over a year now, but I've been horrible at posting my Birchbox scores each month! I always forget, but this month's box was so incredible that I simply have to share it with you all! This March, Birchbox teamed up with Teen Vogue to select this month's items. I am so happy that I opted in for this box because it was such a great deal!

In case you haven't heard of Birchbox, it's a monthly subscription service where you pay $10 and receive 4-5 deluxe sized beauty samples each month. Some boxes even include full-size or nearly full-size items, and the contents of the box usually far exceed $10 in value! I'd highly recommend subscribing for a month and seeing if it's a good fit for you! It's a great way to try out new products and score great deals. Plus, you get 10 Birchbox points for each item you review, and 100 Birchbox points = $10. I usually accumulate around 500-600 Birchbox points a year simply for reviewing the items in each month's Birchbox, so that's $50-60 that you can spend in their store! Plus, you'll get Birchbox points for any money you spend on their store! I've had a lot of fun with my subscription, and I think you will too!

Ok...so on to the good stuff!

This month, I received a FULL-Size Essie Luxe Effects Nail Polish in A Cut Above (retails for $8), a FULL-Size Tarte LipSurgence in Joy (retails for $24), Shiseido Blotting Paper, Sample o Petite Cherie by Annick Goutal , and a lime green Twistaband hair tie!

I can honestly say that I LOVE every single item in my Birchbox, and the two full-size items alone are worth 3x what I paid for the box! I was actually planning on buying the Essie polish anyways, and I've always loved the LipSurgence lip tint's, but I just didn't want to pay full price.

Overall, I'm SUPER pleased with Birchbox this month! Do you have a Birchbox or similar subscription? If so, what has your experience been like?

p.s. I just updated my blog sale {here}, so be sure to check it out!

Affordable Special Event Makeup

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://www.discoverbeautywithin.com/.

My favorite game as a child was playing dress up with my mom's high heels, fancy jewelry, and makeup. I'd smear on blue eyeshadow, fuschia blush, and red lips, and stumble around in shoes that were 3x too big for me. I probably looked like a clown, but I felt so glamorous- so adult! Now that I am an adult, I still love having an excuse to get dressed up- parties, performances, a fancy dinner, you name it! I never turn down any chance to wear a fancy dress, high heels, and fake eyelashes. I may not look glamorous on an everyday basis, but nothing beats playing dress up for special events! Now as much as I like special events, I am not a fan of spending extra money on "special event makeup".  I like to use my drugstore holy grail products to create a million dollar look for a very small price tag :)

Me! Bath Ice Cream {review + giveaway} CLOSED

I won't lie, I am a bit of an ice cream addict. I swear it's hereditary, though, because my mom, dad, and my little brother are just as obsessed with ice cream as me :) It's also not a secret that I love all things girly and cute- especially when they smell almost exactly like my favorite fragrance of all time, Victoria's Secret Love Spell. That's right, I wear the same fragrance that I did in seventh grade. Now, I nearly lost my mind when I had the opportunity to try a product that combined my two loves: ice cream and Love Spell. Meet the Me! Bath Ice Cream, quite possibly the cutest bath bomb you'll ever see.

Liz Earle Toner and Moisturizer {review}

It's no secret that I've had a bit of a love affair with Liz Earle this year (documented here). As soon as I tried the Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, I knew it was love. Cleanse and Polish continues to be my daily cleanser, so I was more than delighted when the lovely ladies at Liz Earle gave me the opportunity to try out their Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer and Skin Repair Light Moisturizer!

Beautiful packaging as always

I Love... Cosmetics Body Lotion {review + giveaway} CLOSED

I've been seeing bloggers from other countries reviewing I Love... Cosmetics products over the past year, and I've always wanted to try their products because they just sound so yummy! I was over the moon when I found out that I Love... Cosmetics products are now available in the US at Walmart and Duane Reade, and I was lucky enough to be sent a body lotion to try out for myself and one to giveaway to my beautiful readers!

Pink is my favorite color, and I DO love strawberries and milkshakes, so I opted to try out the I Love... Strawberries & Milkshakes body lotion. First of all, SUCH a delicious scent. To me, it smells almost exactly like a strawberry daiquiri! I really dislike the oily residue that some lotions leave behind, so I appreciate I Love... 's light and non-greasy formula. This product is a great every day body lotion, and I have been using it every day for weeks! The strawberry daiquiri scent is making me so anxious for summer vacation!

Just to emphasize how delicious this smells... I Love... Cosmetics puts a label on the back of their bottles to remind people not to eat their products :)

Overall, I'd highly recommend I Love... Cosmetics body lotions if you're looking for a light, non-greasy body lotion. The scents are amazing, and they're extremely affordable! I've been eyeing their sets of bubble bath at Walmart, and I suggest that you check out their product line on your next trip to Walmart! To find out more about I Love... Cosmetics, you can visit their website, Facebook, and Twitter.

I Love... Cosmetics has generously offered to giveaway a full-size bottle of their body lotion in the scent Lemons & Limes! To enter, click the "read more" link and fill out the Rafflecopter form below for your chance to win!

l'oreal infallible 24 hr eye shadows {review + swatches}

You guys know I'm a big L'Oreal fan. I went crazy over the L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge lipsticks here, and L'Oreal HIP eyeshadows have been a favorite of mine for years. Well, imagine my delight when I found out that L'Oreal had introduced L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour eyeshadows, and I was going to get an opportunity to try some out for myself! I may or may not have done a happy dance around my apartment for a good five to ten minutes :)

L'Oreal graciously sent me four shades to try out from their Infallible 24-hour eyeshadow collection. The packaging is sleek, sturdy, and functional for the product's formulation.

Top Row: Endless Pearl, Midnight Blue
Bottom Row: Eternal Sunshine, Sultry Smoke

march julep maven boxes

I loved this month's Julep Maven colors so much that I decided to buy two boxes- "Classic with a Twist" and "It Girl!" I've been subscribed to Julep Maven for several months now, and I'm still loving it. The colors are unique, and the formulation is fantastic! This month was no exception- I really love the color selection.

Both boxes came with in this cute purple packaging with a Julep nail file!

It Girl
From top to bottom: Charlotte, Jodie, Melissa

The "It Girl" box featured three gorgeous polishes: Charlotte- a dusty plum, Jodie- a deep wine color with copper shimmer, and my personal favorite, Melissa- a gorgeous opalescent, slightly holographic shimmer.

Classic With a Twist

The "Classic With a Twist" box featured Julep Elixir, an argan oil product that can be used for your skin,  nails, cuticles, and hair. I've had a love affair with my Moroccan Oil for several years, so I'm very interested to see how this argan oil product compares. I also love that they included an eyedropper with the product. I almost always pour too much Moroccan Oil out of the bottle, so I'm happy that I'll be able to get a more precise amount from this product.

The "Classic with a Twist" box also featured two ridiculously beautiful polishes, Jennifer - a slightly peachy pale pink, and Brooke - the most unique medium violet with silver and purple fine glitter. Brooke kind of reminds me of Butter London's No More Waity Katie, a dusty purple with purple glitter that was designed for Kate Middleton before the Royal Wedding, so I'm anxious to paint my nails with this color!

I've been so pleased with my Julep Maven subscription, but I'd love to know your thoughts! What are some of your favorite Julep colors? If you're interested in joining Julep Maven, you can get your first box for only 1 cent using the code SHAREONMARCH
