Inspired by the beautiful
Shaina's
"Perfectly Preppy Spring Break" look, I have been dreaming about the beach. When my school ends for the year, I intend to spend all of my spare time lounging at one of SoCal's many gorgeous beaches.
Maybe I'll go bother my friend Clay in Laguna Beach :)
So, what's in MY beach bag?
I've included a list of products I think are essential to ensure a successful beach trip!
This makeup setting spray is awesome for a day at the beach! While it's not technically waterproof, it will definitely help to keep your makeup on in the heat. This spray has helped my makeup stay on throughout four hour ballet performances under stage lights as well as normal days in the super hot and humid weather of my hometown in Florida. I'd recommend spraying one-three sprays BEFORE you put on foundation/tinted moisturizer and one-three sprays AFTER you finish your makeup.
I don't get too fancy with sunblock. I like Hawaiian Tropic because I feel like you're supposed to smell like coconuts and wax at the beach, but that's just me. I recently started using this creamy lotion, and I'm in love. It's not greasy, and it absorbs easily.
Benefit's You Rebel Lite is my all-time favorite tinted moisturizer. The regular You Rebel is way too dark for my skin tone, so I prefer the Lite version. You Rebel Lite is great for the beach because it's lightweight, gives you a nice light coverage, and it has SPF 15! I actually usually layer this OVER my sunscreen if I plan on being outside in the sun all day.
My skin is naturally SUPER fair, so I usually apply self tanner for several days before I hit the beach . I don't want to be the palest one there! This L'Oreal self-tanner is my favorite so far. It's not greasy, not too smelly, and the color is a nice non-orange light tan. I'm actually planning on doing a thorough review with 3-day swatches of various self tanners very soon, so be on the lookout for that post! Let me know if there are any self-tanners you're curious about, and I will try my best to try them out :)
I NEVER leave house without mascara, even if I'm going to the beach. I've had good luck with the waterproof Falsies mascara. In my experience, it's resisted running or smudging even after being fully submerged in water.
I know that you're SUPPOSED to wear SPF on your lips, but I usually just end up wearing something fruity like philosophy's Melon Daiquiri Lip Shine. Maybe my lips will be sun damaged, but at least I will smell delicious. We all have our priorities.
Every girl needs a good beach bag. I'm planning on buying Vera Bradley's Dockside Collection canvas large tote in Periwinkle for my summer vacation! I can't wait until it comes in. I have a ton of Vera Bradley bags, and I love that you can just throw them in the washing machine after a day at the beach!
You have to have a nice pair of sandals for any successful beach escapade, and Jack Rogers are probably my all-time favorite shoe for summer. They go with EVERYTHING (especially this color), and they last forever. I think I've had my three pairs (white, platinum metallic, and silver) for about five years, and they're still going strong :) I am tempted to buy some of the brighter colors for summer, though!
Tory Burch Sunglasses
Sunglasses are obviously an essential part of a beach trip. I'm really into Tory Burch's new line of sunglasses. Thank goodness I have some Amazon gift cards to use up :)
Add a to-die-for bathing suit that you feel comfortable in. I wish you could order a Victoria's Secret model body online as well...a girl can dream.
This picture was taken on a recent cruise to the Bahamas. I absolutely cannot wait until my vacation!
I wish you all a happy and safe Spring Break! Let me know what your beach essentials are in a comment :)
