l'oreal infallible 24 hr eye shadows {review + swatches}

You guys know I'm a big L'Oreal fan. I went crazy over the L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge lipsticks here, and L'Oreal HIP eyeshadows have been a favorite of mine for years. Well, imagine my delight when I found out that L'Oreal had introduced L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour eyeshadows, and I was going to get an opportunity to try some out for myself! I may or may not have done a happy dance around my apartment for a good five to ten minutes :)

L'Oreal graciously sent me four shades to try out from their Infallible 24-hour eyeshadow collection. The packaging is sleek, sturdy, and functional for the product's formulation.

Top Row: Endless Pearl, Midnight Blue
Bottom Row: Eternal Sunshine, Sultry Smoke

L'Oreal's Infallible 24-hour eyeshadows are more of a pressed pigment than a traditional eyeshadow, which contributes to their amazing buttery consistency and high pigmentation. To ensure that the product stays compressed, the packaging includes a little plastic device to press down the pigment.

Top Row: Eternal Sunshine, Sultry Smoke
Bottom Row: Endless Pearl, Midnight Blue

Swatches on bare skin with no primer
 From left to right: Eternal Sunshine, Endless Pearl, Sultry Smoke, Midnight Blue

Eternal Sunshine: Slightly yellow-toned pale gold shimmer
Endless Pearl: Matte cream with a touch of peach undertones. While the swatch
 may not seem as pigmented as the others, it is only due to my ridiculously pale skin.
Sultry Smoke: Matte cool-toned smoky gray
Midnight Blue: Navy blue shimmer

I have to say I was blown away by the consistency of these eye shadows. They were as soft, buttery, and highly pigmented as some of my favorite high-end eye shadows, and the consistency reminded me of Giorgio Armani's Eyes to Kill for a fraction of the price. All four colors were beautiful to apply and easy to blend. I haven't tested the 24-hour claim, but all four colors are longlasting even without a primer.

 While each of these colors would be standouts on their own, I've been wearing them all together for a multi-dimensional smoky eye look. I wear Endless Pearl all over the lid, and then I apply Sultry Smoke right along the lash line over my eyeliner and blend it into the crease. Next, I'll put a bit of Midnight Blue in the outer-v of my eye and add Eternal Sunshine to the inner corner of my eye and along my brow bone as a highlight color. I'm normally all about my neutral eye shadows, but I've found that Midnight Blue is a fun way to add a pop of color that isn't too outrageous.

Overall, I'm very impressed with these shadows, and I would highly recommend the colors that I tried. The consistency and pigmentation were equivalent to my favorite high-end brands, and I think that the $7.95 price tag is a bargain. I'm anxious to try the other colors in the line!

Have you tried any of the other shades from this collection? If so, which colors should I try next?
